The aim of our FEAST project is to improve the health and wellbeing of people with a learning disability in Sefton through a healthy eating programme including awareness raising of current eating habits, food tasting sessions and healthy lunch clubs to share learning and offer an opportunity to socialise.
We have started by keeping an eye out for sugar, fat and salt content of our meals and noting it on a chart. We will do the same again at the end of the project and see if anything has changed.
With food tasting sessions and lunch clubs we try to encourage our members to try different flavours and textures of food and hopefully broaden their diet. The biggest hits so far have been goats cheese and surprisingly, octopus and sushi!
We have invited our friends and family to our healthy lunch clubs to find out about the foods we have enjoyed on this project.
