My name is Lisa Smeaton, I am the Autism Liaison Officer.  I run the Autism Advocacy Service at People First Merseyside. The Autism Advocacy Service is for people who have a diagnosis of Autism without a learning disability in Sefton.

I have Asperger’s and have lived experience. I understand the barriers that people with Autism face.

I can support you to:

  • Increase your confidence,
  • Take control of issues affecting your life,
  • Reduce communication barriers,
  • Speak up about YOUR needs,
  • Make contact and introductions to appropriate services.

I will be running group sessions virtually and in person. The aim of these sessions is to get to know each other better, to meet other people with similar experiences and to gain confidence in communicating with others.

Group sessions will be user led. I will invite guest speakers to some of the sessions based on group discussions. This will help us learn about services that are available.

I can also arrange one to one meetings with you if you don’t feel comfortable working in a group straight away. One to one sessions can also be used to address specific issues that you need support with.

I will be developing and delivering Autism awareness training to partner organisation and agencies to help them become more supportive and Autism friendly. This training is something that you can contribute to or assist with if you want to.
