Yesterday was Lisa Smeaton’s last day as one of the paid workers at People First Merseyside. Lisa worked on the Autism Advocacy group but unfortunately, the group had its last session on the 25th of March as funding for the project had run out. We would like to thank Lisa for all she has done for the project and the company during her time here. Over the months, the group have been getting to know each other and how autism affects everyone in a variety of ways, and in the last few months decided to work together on a group project focused on creative writing where they shared all their unique ideas. Lisa always made sure that everyone in the group had their say and took part.
Lisa and the members of the group got together and shared hopes that this will not be the last time they meet. Member Robert Holland had this to say, “Thank you Lisa for giving us a place that we felt welcome, where we could just be ourselves and not but judged for who we are. It’s a shame that it had to happen, but I hope that we can do something like this again in the future.”
Everyone here at People First Merseyside would like to wish Lisa luck in her future endeavours and hope to see her again soon!
