Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting Kate Gore as part of our Get Involved Group, she is the new Hate Crime officer for Sefton at Merseyside Police. Kate is what is called a civilian, this means that she works for the police but is not a police officer.

Kate has a vast knowledge of disability hate crime as she has worked for many years supporting victims of disability hate crime to go through the court process as part of her previous job.

Kate came to introduce herself to the group and explain how she would be taking over the role that Gerrie McConaghy did. We were able to tell Kate about all of the other work we are doing and our members experiences of hate crime.

Kate told us that she was really looking forward to working with us as Gerrie had told us lots of good things about the work we had done together.
