We have just 3 weeks until our Adelphi Gala Dinner and the soloists for the Adelphi have been selected!
It promises to be an absolutely electric evening and everyone is practising hard to make sure they are word perfect – not just our soloists but everyone in the Friends and Voices Choir.
We had 19 people at Choir today as lots of our members went to an important meeting in Preston around advocacy.
We started with our usual warm ups and vocal exercises followed by singing in rounds and harmonies. Today’s songs were
- Soft Kitty (from The Big Bang Theory)
- Michael Row Your Boat Ashore
- Oh When the Saints Go Marching In
The warm up’s get everyone up and smiling and ready for the songs we will be singing at the Adelphi.
We began with our 2 favourites that we sang in St George’s Hall with the In Another Place Gospel Choir – Happy and Don’t You Worry Child. We then all sang “We Will Rock You”.
Alex and Sarah will be singing “Roar” as a duet at the Adelphi so Alex practised alone today as Sarah was in Preston. Afterwards Alex said “I feel happy. I love singing I forget about all my worries. My family and girlfriend will be at the Adelphi and I know they will be proud of me. I do feel a bit nervous but me and Sarah will be excellent.”
Everyone sang “Little Help from My Friends.” This will be Phil’s solo but there is a lot of participation from the whole choir so we need to know what lines to sing.
Geraldine will be singing “Stand By Me” at the Adelphi. Geraldine was the only person who was confident enough to sing with only a backing track today which was superb. Geraldine said “I’m feeling awesome about doing the solo. I’ve been practising on my computer and I know all the words. It is great to be in the Friends and Voices Choir and I’m feeling excited BRING IT ON!”
Kat and Lewis sang “Reach” by S Club 7 and they said “I’m feeling and bit nervous but we are going to be great. We’re going to be singing in front of everyone on the night.”
Liam closed the day with “DISCO” so we left on a high.
Jan Cullen our Choir Teacher said “I’m so proud of everyone, everyone is working so hard, you can see how much practise people have put in, it is going to be an amazing evening!”
